Art or Style
In today’s design conscious world, is art now chosen to go with your decor ? Has a piece of art to tie in with your wallpaper or do you still buy art because you like it, no matter how it looks on your wall . . . . . even if it clashes with your decor ?
Maybe all art is what hangs in a Museum or Gallery and not what you decorate your home with. Perhaps “true art” needs to have matured and been painted over 100 years ago ? Well all we can say is “Bah Humbug !”, as long as art evokes a reaction, we at the Attic believe that’s what counts ! Why not search the attic and see for yourself.

Applecross and Peat Hag by John Bathgate
The first time I saw these prints at 37 minutes past twelve in the early hours of the morning, I was so compelled to write about them. For me, they are astounding pieces of art from John Bathgate.

The Bay Attic – February
This article originally started out entitled “fund-raising calendars” and then David and I thought, why not just post an article about whats been happening at the Attic over the past few weeks.
To start with I would say not much has been happening but when you think about it, actually we have been very busy.
David has been re-designing the landing pages for the website and uploading new “improved” image files for all the artists work (he still has their newest pieces of art to add and also add work from artist Mairi Aitken.)
I have been designing new invitations for the graduation invite section of the site, (which should be uploaded to the web soon – we just need to find the Photoshop actions we had set up to make this one step process, a one step process !)
I have been looking for inspiration for more wedding stationery, engagement and retirement cards. Mind you the inspiration so far has taken me to some great wedding cake magazines and mother and baby magazines, as friends are having babies and getting married !
We have been discussing how to best re-organise and layout the calendar section of the website as well, as we think we have to make it more simplistic for ordering and viewing the various styles of calendar (any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.)
David and Doricmor have been working on a new range of Art/Photo Cards which will feature work from our artists and some of Richard Tugwells black and white photography and some fabulous aviation photography too !
In between all of this, David has decided to take on the cooking as we are now doing a much more healthy and local shopping experience. No more big freezer shops at your near-by supermarket, it’s local and fresh is best. It’s amazing the fantastic food we have had over the past few weeks. I have learned that David is a dab hand at cooking Salmon to perfection (something I have always avoided as I think, I cook fish till it becomes rubber !!!) Ironically the recipe for the Oriental Salmon was from the Tesco website, try it, it’s delicious !

Bridesmaid Pre-nuptial Agreement ?
After reading an article in Tuesdays Daily Record by Laura Coventry entitled “Maids of Dishonour”, I began to wonder what you would think if you were asked to sign a prenuptial contract because you have been asked to be a Bridesmaid?
According to the Record:-
“A recent survey revealed that one in 5 brides-to-be would be willing to ask their Bridesmaids to sign a contractual agreement before they do their duty.”
“48% admitted that if any one of their Bridesmaids breached any of the contract clauses, then they would sack them from their impending role or demote them to an ordinary guest.”
